As a part of my biology project, we are required to prepare an oral presentation about what we have learned since the beginning of the year. I have been watching a variety of different types of presentations (both live and recorded on YouTube) and keeping notes on what works and what doesn't work. Here's are some of the things I cam up with:
That's it for now, keep checking back to see what else I have learned!
- Movement Matters - standing still as a brick is sooo boring, but also if you move too much, people will be distracted from what you are saying. Talking and accenting important pieces of information with your hands can help get your point across too!
- Don't present without visuals - they help you appeal to different types of learners and make your presentation more interesting.
- Dress formal, but comfortable - Unless you are making a formal business presentation, suit and tie aren't always necessary, but it really depends on what your topic is. That being said, it is still important to look presentable!
- Speed isn't everything - speak slowly and clearly so everyone has the chance to digest what you are saying.
